POPE’S VISIT TO IRELAND A 36 HOUR TIGHT SCHEDULE

So Pope Francis is coming to Ireland. Why Ireland? Because it was his wish that Ireland should be chosen as the country for this year’s World Meeting of Families, an event which was the brainchild of Pope John Paul II in 1994 and has been ever since organized in different countries every three years.
In this Meeting’s framework, which will start on the 21st of August and will take place in the RDS Dublin, an Italian Episcopal Mass will be celebrated on Friday 24th of August at St. Joseph’s Church in East Wall Dublin by Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, followed by refreshments organized by the Italian Embassy for some 500 Irish and Italian participants.
SATURDAY 25TH AUGUST 2018
The Pope arrives at Dublin Airport at 10.30 at the start of his very tight 36 hour visit schedule.

He then moves to Dublin Castle to meet the Taoiseach and members of the Irish Government.
He then goes to the Pro-Cathedral. After that he will visit Brother Crowley’s Capuchin Day Centre in Bowe Street, Smithfield (private visit) to meet homeless people.
He then heads for Dorset Street to appear in Croke Park where, before 70.000 people, he will be entertained by big names in the show business among whom Andrea Boocelli.
SUNDAY 26TH AUGUST 2018
