Once again, the American political circus is gaining momentum. If James Comey ever lied under oath to the Senate committee, Trump is prepared to do so on the double.
For Trump the statement by Comey that he was not under investigation was not enough, as he had to latch on Comey’s statement that he had verbally asked him for his loyalty. In the midst of this statements’ tug of war the latter is so veritable and so mildly compromising that Comey had no reason not to make. But here is a President who likes to have the cake and eat it, for his legal representatives immediately and openly accused Comey of lying.
Whether Trump takes a stand at the Senate committee to lie about a supposed lie it remains to be seen.
The crux of the matter in this debacle is that Comey¸ as former Head of the FBI, stated that he had not the slightest doubt that there was Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. If this is true, as it seems to be, the question is who on the American side knew about and facilitated such interference.
