Today, at the Italian Embassy in Dublin, the Italian Ambassador Paolo Serpi conferred, on behalf of the President of the Italian Republic, the special award of the Order of the Star of Italy (Cavalierato) to Marco Giannantonio e Maurizio Mastrangelo. They are the two well-known partners at the helm of Flavour of Italy which can arguably be classified as one of the most progressive Italian companies in Ireland and a success story.
It all started thirteen years ago when these two enterprising Italians from the region of Molise thought of adding to the colourful scenario of Italian enterprise in Ireland a food and wine import and distribution company which would not just stop at importing and distributing but dynamically act as ambassadors of the best Italian culinary traditions to Ireland.
Not surprisingly their company was called Flavour of Italy soon incorporating two restaurants in Dublin called Pinocchio and an Italian School of cooking showcasing the principal aims of the company.
Over the last 13 years Flavour of Italy’s dedication has also covered travel by organizing Italian food and wine educational tours to selected regions of Italy.
A few years ago the company’s expansion culminated in the creation of FIBI (Federation of Italian Business in Ireland) a kind of Irish-Italian chamber of commerce to facilitate trade relations between Italy and Ireland primarily along the food and wine channel.
