Revival of ancient species of plants at the Italian Institute of Culture. Tonight the Nonino prize ‘arboreal archaeologist’ Isabella Della Ragione spoke about the research and conservation of antique fruit varieties, remarking the importance of a biodiversity. Isabella’s witty words clearly explained the core and the importance of her work, that saved more than one hundred different ecotypes.
The research started in the Umbrian area in Italy and slowly covered most of the peninsula. From ancient agricultural techniques to the representation of old fruits in arts, nothing is left to chance in the fascinating studies of Doctor Della Ragione, who brightly continues, and with great passion, the work started by her father.
