LECTURE BY PROF. SIMONA COLARIZI AT NATIONAL LIBRARY OF IRELAND

Last night the 7th of June 2016, the National Library of Ireland held the fourth and last lecture of the series “The Invention of Italy”, organized in conjunction with Laterza Publishing Company and the Italian Institute of Culture.
The theme of the lecture by Prof. Simona Colarizi of La Sapienza University of Rome was “The Italian economic miracle and La Dolce Vita”.
Prof. Colarizi presented a clear and interesting picture of the ‘50s and ‘60s Italy and the unprecedented economic boon which took place in those years, and the relevant social changes and attitudes as featured in Fellini’s famous film “La Dolce Vita”. She talked also about the similarities as well as differences with Italy, primarily Rome, today as featured in the recent film “The Great Beauty” by Paolo Sorrentino.
