EURO 2016 – GROUP E: BELGIUM BEATS THE REP. OF IRELAND (3-0)

After the loss of face against Italy, Belgium got their sweet revenge at the expense of Ireland, by punishing them with three goals to nil.
In the first half the Irish lived dangerously, trying to contain the relentless raids orchestrated by Belgium determined to show they can score goals. Indeed they did!
For most of the first half one would wonder where an Irish goal would come from, when the Irish formation saw Shane Long as a loner in attack, constantly marked by two or three Belgian guardian angels. This was coupled with naivety in passing the ball and absolute  lack of creativity.
Three minutes into the second half, Lukaku opened the scoring for Belgium. Although changes were made with the introduction of McClean, McGeady and Robbie Keane, the tune did not change, for Belgium scored two more times with Vitsel on 61’ and Lukaku on the 70’.
A slim chances for Ireland to qualify for the second round depends on their last match against Italy.
In al honesty it would be a miracle if they beat Italy!
